Our Trust

We employ more than 3,500 staff across North Yorkshire and beyond. We provide community services from Scarborough to Skipton, and offer hospital-based services from Harrogate District Hospital and Ripon Community Hospital.

The roles we offer reflect the range of services we provide – they include nursing and medical roles, but also clinical support roles, apprenticeships, administrative roles and management positions as well as work experience and voluntary opportunities. Explore more about the types of roles we offer and current vacancies on our jobs page.

As a partner in the What Matters To Us Harrogate and Rural District Vanguard, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is developing an innovative new model of care, which will enable patients to be cared for closer to home and reduce their need to attend our Emergency Department. We will do this by working within the community in multidisciplinary teams comprising GPs, nursing staff, social care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, mental health and the voluntary sector.

Our values

We believe all staff members have a part to play in achieving the Trust’s vision of Excellence Every Time. Our values have been developed by our staff and patients and provide a framework for our behaviours: we aim to be Respectful, Responsible and Passionate in everything we do.

Our region

Harrogate District Hospital is only 16 miles from Leeds and 20 miles from York – so roughly a 30-45 minute journey. Ripon Community Hospital is 35 miles from Leeds and 26 miles from York. Find out more about commuting options.

No matter where you work you’re never far from some stunning countryside. The North York Moors National Park can be reached easily from Middlesbrough, Darlington, Ripon, Harrogate, Whitby and Scarborough. The Yorkshire Dales are close to Skipton, Harrogate and Darlington.

Urban life

The region we cover also has a range of options for the urbanites out there. If you’re looking for a city lifestyle, both Leeds and York are within easy commutable distance of many of our sites. We also provide children’s services in Durham, Darlington and Middlesbrough – all of which have their own attractions.

Of course, Harrogate itself has a lot to offer, and has been voted the happiest place to live in the UK two years running by RightMove. That may be something to do with our famous Betty’s Tea Rooms… Find out more from the Visit Harrogate website.

Historic attractions

This area has an array of historic attractions for you to explore. We have a number of castles and ruins within easy reach, including Fountains Abbey, Whitby Abbey and Skipton Castle. Why not explore stately homes and gardens, such as Castle Howard, Harewood House or the multi-award winning RHS Gardens Harlow Carr. Experience the medieval York Mystery Plays at York Minster or imagine yourself in wartime Britain at the Eden Camp.

Family attractions

There is plenty for families to enjoy together. For the thrill-seekers, we have two theme parks nearby – Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Land. You could visit Mother Shipton’s Cave, England’s oldest visitor attraction, which includes a petrifying well and a forest to explore. A day at the seaside is never too far away, with both Whitby and Scarborough nearby.
