Medical Roles

Our partnership with Health Education Yorkshire and Humber provides training opportunities for medical staff across all training grades. Each year, more than 100 students complete their training rotations with us.

We have a range of facilities and resources available to support the development of our medical staff. These include a clinical skills laboratory, a simulation laboratory, an on-site library and an education centre.

You can find all of our current vacancies here. You can find out more about medical careers by visiting the Health Careers website, or more about medical degrees by visiting the General Medical Council website.

Medical Consultant

Our Medical Teams

The Respiratory Nursing Team advises and supports patients with a range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis and pulmonary fibrosis.
Our nurses are experienced in looking after patients who have difficulty managing symptoms such as breathlessness, wheezing and sputum production and can enjoy a varied work load assessing patients, performing breathing tests and working closely with respiratory consultants and junior doctors.

Patients with suspected acute stroke are admitted to the Stroke Unit on Oakdale Ward for initial care and rehabilitation under the stroke team. The team comprises specialist consultants, pharmacists, expert nursing and therapy staff including speech and language therapists.

Working within this team allows you to develop understanding and experience of specialist Hyperacute treatments including intravenous thrombolysis.

Elderly Care (Later in Life)

Our Elderly Care Team aims to help patients recover from the condition that brought them into hospital while also dealing with their other health and social issues. The Elderly Care Team includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers.

This can be an incredibly rewarding environment to work in, providing specialist nursing knowledge, care and reassurance to patients and their families.

Neuro Rehab

The patients that we receive and treat on this unit may have a variety of neurological conditions such as head injuries, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease and Guillain–Barré syndrome.

It’s a patient-centred environment with nursing and therapy staff providing a high standard of care.

Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registrations (CESR) in Emergency Medicine

This programme has been specifically developed for doctors with previous experience in emergency medicine to allow them to develop their career through a specific and supported training programme. The programme comprises rotations in both emergency medicine and related specialties, such as paediatrics, acute medicine and anaesthetics. Participants on this programme will receive teaching, aligned to the ACCS curriculum, but will also have the opportunity to take part in additional training and self-directed learning.
